Watchlist, AniList and MyAnimeList
Use the watchlist to track shows by status. Connect AniList or MyAnimeList to update your lists there as you watch. Aikatsu can also notify you when new episodes air.
Your watchlist
On a show's page, choose Add to list (the bookmark button on Android) and pick a status: Watching, Plan to watch, Completed, On hold or Dropped. Choose the same button again to change it, or Remove from list.
Open Library to see the watchlist, with one tab for each status. Sign in to sync to share it across devices.
Connect AniList or MyAnimeList
- Open Settings. On desktop, choose Account and find Trackers. On Android, find Tracking.
- Choose Connect next to AniList or MyAnimeList. Your browser opens their sign-in page.
- Allow Aikatsu. When the page says Connected, close it and go back to Aikatsu.
Complete sign-in within five minutes of choosing Connect. Tracker connections do not sync, so connect each device separately. Use Disconnect to remove a connection.
Automatic list updates
When you finish an episode (watch 90% of it, or choose Mark as watched or Mark all watched):
- The show goes on your watchlist as Watching, or Completed after its last episode. A rewatch of a completed show stays Completed.
- Connected trackers get your progress and the same status. Tracker progress never decreases. If AniList already records more watched episodes, that count stays.
Changing a status on a show's page changes it on your trackers too. Remove from list removes the show from your Aikatsu watchlist. It stays on AniList and MyAnimeList.
A show needs an AniList match to update AniList, and a MyAnimeList ID to update MyAnimeList. Use the refresh button on a show's page if its details didn't load.
Aikatsu doesn't import your existing AniList or MyAnimeList lists. Changes you make on their websites don't come back to Aikatsu.
Failed updates appear next to the tracker in Settings. Finishing another episode sends your latest progress, including any earlier progress that failed to update.
New episode notifications
For shows you're Watching or Plan to watch, Aikatsu shows a notification when a new episode airs. Tap or click it to open the show.
- Times come from AniList's airing schedule. Your sources may get the episode a few hours later.
- Shows without an AniList match get no notifications.
On Android, notifications arrive even with Aikatsu closed. Aikatsu schedules them two weeks ahead each time you open it, so open it at least that often. Android asks for permission the first time. Turn notifications off with New episode alerts under Tracking in Settings.
On desktop, notifications only arrive while Aikatsu is running, either open or in the tray. Aikatsu shows its tray icon while alerts are on, and the notifications come from that icon. Turn them off with New episode alerts under Account > Trackers in Settings. Without a system tray, an alert appears inside the Aikatsu window instead.
