Find something to watch
Use Search to find a title, or browse Home for something new.
Browse Home
Home combines your watch history with discovery shelves from AniList:
- Continue shows unfinished shows and where you left off.
- Recent lets you revisit what you've watched, including finished shows.
- Out today shows recently aired episodes.
- Up next shows upcoming airings.
- Trending now and the upcoming-anime shelf help you find something new.
Air dates follow AniList's schedule. Your source may upload an episode later.
Open a discovery card for details, then search your installed sources to watch the show.
Search several sources at once
Enter at least two characters and submit. Aikatsu searches all enabled sources at once and shows results as they arrive.
The source filters show which sites are still loading, how many results they returned, and whether something failed. Use a filter to focus on one source. On mobile, tapping a failed source can show its error.
Try another spelling, a shorter title, or the Japanese title if a search comes back empty. The app turns hyphens and underscores into spaces before sending a query to a source.
Aikatsu may briefly skip a source that keeps failing so it stops slowing down searches.
Read the anime details
Open a show to see its episode list and details:
- Cover art, synopsis, score, and genres.
- Episode titles and available episode information.
- Filler and recap markers when that data exists.
- Your saved episode progress.
Show details come from AniList, with Jikan as a backup and for episode information. Titles and episode counts may differ from the source. You can still watch when some details are missing.
Find an episode and track what you've watched
Use Jump to… to narrow a long episode list by its starting digits. For example, entering 12 can show episodes 12 and 120 through 129. Clear the field to see everything again. The sort control switches between oldest-first and newest-first order.
To mark an episode watched or unwatched, long-press it on Android or open its context menu on desktop. This updates your progress and the Continue shelf on Home.
Use refresh to reload the episode list and show details, or download to save episodes for later.
Choose which sites Search uses
Open Settings > Plugins and switch individual sources on or off. On desktop, click a source in Settings > Sources. Turning one off keeps its repo installed, but leaves it out of searches.
If a source goes missing after a repo was removed, add that repo again. Existing history can still refer to the old source, but online playback needs the plugin to be installed.
